School Readiness begins with health! Head Start and Early Head Start Services focus on the “whole child” to promote children’s learning and development. In collaboration with families and community health providers, HS/EHS promotes up-to-date preventative health care and treatment for enrolled children and prenatal women. HS/EHS provides linkage to community health services, health education, scheduling assistance, health screenings by trained staff, transportation to medical appointments, and more!
HS/EHS provides a healthy and safe learning environment by adhering to the guidelines of the Office of Head Start Performance Standards, West Virginia Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) Schedule, CDC Immunization Schedule, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry Dental Periodicity Schedule. All NCWVCAA Health, Nutrition, and Mental Health policies and procedures are approved by a committee of staff, parents, and local community health professionals that serve on the NCWVCAA HS/EHS Health Services Advisory Committee. Together the Health Advisory helps make decisions about health services and strengthens the communities where Head Start families live!
Are you interested in becoming a committee member? We would love to have you!
